G. Ellis Summers began his legal career as a corporate associate with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, & Caldwell, P.C. in Memphis, Tennessee, and Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A. in West Palm Beach, Florida from approximately 2000 through 2007. Mr. Summers later transitioned to criminal practice to better represent people rather than corporations.
Mr. Summers first worked for the Metro Nashville Public Defender's Office in Nashville, Tennessee and later the Office of the State of Montana Public Defender in Bozeman, Montana. Mr. Summers has been in the Fort Myers office of the Federal Defender for the Middle District of Florida since March 2012.
Drawing on his corporate law background and Masters in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University, Mr. Summers specializes in white collar criminal defense. Mr. Summers has represented white collar defendants for the Federal Defender for the Middle District of Florida in Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa. Mr. Summers has been a panelist at the White Collar Criminal Defense College at Gulfport, Florida.
