Laura Daines received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. During law school, Ms. Daines was a member of the University of Miami Law Review, where she served as an Articles and Comments Editor. She graduated from law school in the top 3% of her class and received numerous accolades, including a Dean's Certificate of Achievement and several CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, and consistently made the Dean's List. Upon graduation, she was selected to be a member of the Order of the Coif. Before joining the Office of the Federal Defender, Ms. Daines clerked for the Honorable R. Fred Lewis at the Florida Supreme Court, following which she became a litigation associate at Greenberg Traurig, where she specialized in representing clients on appeal. She also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Charlene Edwards Honeywell, United States District Judge, MDFL.
