Before joining the Federal Defender’s office, Marta Jaszczolt was a Staff Attorney with the Criminal Justice Reform Department at the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), where she litigated class actions with the goal of ending solitary confinement in Florida. Prior to joining SPLC, Ms. Jaszczolt spent five years representing capital defendants at Capital Collateral Regional Counsel- South (CCRC-S). At CCRC-South, she and her team successfully obtained a life sentence on behalf of their youngest client.
Ms. Jaszczolt earned her B.S. in Business Economics from the University of South Florida and received her J.D. from Florida State University College of Law. During law school, she participated in student exchange programs in the Netherlands and Australia studying International Human Rights. She also earned a scholarship and spent a semester externing at the International Bar Association Human Rights Institute in London.
